Safeguarding and domestic abuse
What should I do in an emergency?
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, always call 999. Situations involving violence, assault, threats, stalking, harassment, or criminal activity should be reported immediately to the emergency services.
Calling 999 when you cannot speak
- Call 999 and remain on the line.
- Cough, tap the handset, or make a noise to alert the operator.
- If calling from a mobile phone, listen carefully and press 55 when prompted as part of the Silent Solution system.
- If calling from a landline and you cannot speak, staying on the line may help the operator identify that you require assistance.
What should I do if I feel unsafe?
If you are experiencing domestic abuse, harassment, coercive behaviour, exploitation, or any form of abuse within your home or accommodation, please contact us as soon as it is safe to do so.
